Frequently Asked Questions

What care types do you offer, and who's a good fit?

We offer memory care and short-term respite care in a quiet, residential setting designed specifically for individuals living with dementia.

Green Leaf is a great fit for residents with a dementia diagnosis who benefit from close supervision, predictable routines, and a calm environment. Residents are typically mobile and do best in a setting that emphasizes safety, structure, and meaningful daily interaction.

We may not be the right fit for individuals who require skilled nursing care, are wheelchair-dependent, have a high risk of wandering, or exhibit frequent aggressive behaviors. If you’re unsure whether Green Leaf is the right fit, we’re always happy to talk through your loved one’s needs and help guide you.

What makes Green Leaf different from larger facilities?

Unlike large, institutional facilities, Green Leaf offers memory care in a calm, thoughtfully designed setting that prioritizes simplicity, familiarity, and ease of navigation. The environment is intentionally quiet and well-organized, with consistent spaces, a limited number of residents, and minimal distractions—so daily life feels more manageable and less overwhelming.

For individuals living with dementia, this smaller, more peaceful setting makes a meaningful difference. Natural surroundings, predictable routines, and a stable care team help reduce confusion and anxiety, allowing residents to settle in more comfortably and experience a calmer, more supported day-to-day rhythm.

What are your staff qualifications?

Green Leaf is led by Erin Taylor Nevitt, an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with decades of experience in senior and memory care. Erin is closely involved in resident care and personally oversees medication management and clinical decision-making.

All caregivers receive specialized dementia-focused training, including ongoing education through Relias, with an emphasis on communication, redirection, safety, and compassionate support for individuals with memory loss. Our training and staffing approach goes far beyond state minimum requirements, helping ensure residents receive attentive, knowledgeable, and consistent care every day.

How much does care cost at Green Leaf?

Green Leaf offers flat, all-inclusive pricing, so families don’t encounter the unexpected add-on charges that are common in many larger, itemized communities. Memory care is provided at one consistent monthly rate, regardless of changes in daily care needs.

There are just a few personal items that make sense for families to handle on their own—such as toiletries, disposable underwear if needed, and medications through a preferred pharmacy. We keep this simple and will notify families when supplies run low.

Our approach makes planning and budgeting simpler and more predictable.

What are the most loved features of Green Leaf?

Families often share that Green Leaf feels noticeably different from other memory care options they’ve toured. From the calm setting and intentional routines to the consistency of care and leadership involvement, it’s the small, thoughtful details that help residents feel more at ease—and give families lasting peace of mind.

Families often mention:

- The calm, peaceful setting surrounded by trees and natural views

- A small, consistent care team that truly knows each resident

- Thoughtful routines and close supervision that support comfort and safety

- Purposeful spaces like the sensory room, dining area, and quiet gathering areas

- Open, responsive communication with caregivers and clinical leadership

This combination helps residents feel more at ease—and gives families confidence their loved one is truly known and cared for—which means everything to us!

What payment types do you accept?

Like most boutique memory care providers in Illinois, Green Leaf is a private-pay and long-term care insurance community.

We have chosen this model to ensure we maintain the highest standards of personalized care without the staffing restrictions typically found in state-funded programs. In Illinois, Medicaid typically only pays for "Supportive Living" facilities, which are often much larger, institutional settings. Our approach allows our residents to enjoy an intimate, 16-bed "family" atmosphere with significantly higher staff-to-resident ratios.

Families choose Green Leaf when they are looking for a smaller, personalized setting and some of the most competitive private-pay rates for memory care in Peoria.

Still wondering about your options? We’re happy to help you navigate the differences between Supportive Living, Nursing Care, and Private Memory care. Call or text us at (309) 322-9295 for a transparent pricing guide or a care consultation.

When can I visit my loved one at Green Leaf

Families are always welcome at Green Leaf, and we truly value the time loved ones spend here. Visits play an important role in resident well-being, and our home offers comfortable shared spaces where families can sit, talk, and enjoy time together in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

With that in mind, we’ve found a few simple guidelines are especially helpful for supporting our residents’ comfort and health. Visits are generally best between 10:30 AM and 4:30 PM, when residents are most alert and engaged. We typically recommend avoiding mealtimes, as consistent routines help residents eat well and stay settled. Many families enjoy visiting during afternoon snack time or spending quiet time together indoors or outside when weather allows.

Our goal is to make every visit feel positive, meaningful, and supportive—for both residents and their families.
